Speaking
Jack is a speaker and seasoned writing teacher, who participates in speaking opportunities with state, national and international historical and writing groups, including Military Writers Society of America, the Writers League of Texas, SouthWest Writers, Historical Novel Society, Austin Public Library Book Festival, Louisiana Book Festival, Sons of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Historical Writers of America. He was given the President’s Award by MWSA in 2022 for his contribution to teaching the craft of creative writing to military veterans. He was the keynote speaker for two 80th anniversary D-Day memorial services and the 100th anniversary of the Armistice in France. He has recently been invited to speak at the 2026 Pearl Harbor Memorial Service.

Teaching
Jack teaches writing classes to writing groups, including classes on the devices and conventions of creative writing.

Jack’s workshops include structure of the novel, integrating front- and back-story, and revising drafts, among others.

Keynote Speaking Engagements
Jack was the keynote speaker at the United States Military Cemetery in France for Armistice Day Memorial Service on the 100th Anniversary of World War 1, Veterans Day at the Silent Wings Museum, 80th Anniversary of D-Day Memorial Services at two American Military Cemeteries in France, among others.
